Carry Him close…

Ignatius of Loyola, a great spiritual

   figure in the church’s history, had

   this quote attributed to him:

        “Those who carry God in their

        hearts, bear heaven with them

        wherever they go.”

This was a God moment for me. Last

   Sunday, when Jesus was talking

   about the kingdom of heaven, I

   came to this very conclusion, that

   the kingdom of heaven is very close,

   and very real.

If we understand God to be far, far

   away, then we may be tempted

   to leave God alone, while we do

   just about whatever we want to do.

Instead, we must know

   God is here,

   God is real,

   and God’s love

   is what holds

   us together.

“Those who carry God in their hearts,

   bear heaven with them wherever

   they go.”

What a lovely thought.
