Jeff's Journal 2010 - 2018

Jeff's Journal

Now, the breeze is blowing gently through the trees.

Earlier this morning everything was still — very still.

I had to become still to appreciate the stillness.

Not one leaf on one tree even twitched the least bit.

Jake and I walked through the field, him sniffing each bush

and me in awe of the stillness.

What occurred to me, is how rarely I am truly still and able

to sense what is right around me.

We sense God in the stillness.

Usually, we are in constant motion, typing, driving,

   talking, texting, walking.

Now and then, we need to be still. Very still.

Take a breath, close the eyes, then open them.

See what there is to see. See it as if for the first time.

See what God has there for you. See what may have

always been right there, but you never stopped long

      enough to see it.

There is worship in such a moment.

Moving to the deeper places,

Jeff
