Jeff's Journal

Please read Mark 1:14-20

Jesus took a walk.

   Along the shoreline

      he watched four men working.

      They fished for a living

         and were plying their trade.

These "blue collar" workers

   knew that you worked

      until the job was done.

Jesus proposed a career change.

   Walk with me.

      Choose a different path.

"I see in you a teacher. I see in you

a preacher. I see in you a leader."

Interviews for this work were

   unnecessary. Jesus knew the heart

   of each fisherman.

Mostly what he knew

   is that they would work

as if their life and the lives of others

      depended on it.

They responded immediately,

   got up and followed him.

What did they see and understand

   about this man Jesus?

I suspect he loved them

unlike any man had ever loved them

and this love was clear and discernable.

Once, when I was twelve, I heard the call.

Now, I will follow the one whose love for me

has no limits, even though I will not'

      always understand his words and

          his ways.

Moving to the deeper places,
