Three Trees

Three Trees (2)

This Advent Season we celebrate the beauty of our sanctuary with Three Christmas Trees…a reminder of the story, “The Tale of Three Trees.”

The First Tree looked to the twinkling stars of heaven and wanted to be fashioned into something beautiful to hold great treasure. Our First Tree is the largest of the three and twinkles with starlight and holds all the beautiful symbols of our faith…Christmons, Christ Monograms. Each ornament on this tree is a symbol of Christ and God’s greatest gift of love to humanity: treasure which can never fully be measured.

The Second Tree wanted to become a strong sailing ship and to sail the world’s greatest oceans transporting powerful kings. Our Second Tree is the smallest tree…small to represent the smallest of our members…the children. This will be our Children’s Tree. Ornaments for this tree will all be brought in by you, as representations of the children in your lives…those in our churches and those in your own families. Our children are a part of our church today and hold within them the potential for our church tomorrow. Like that second tree, they will carry God’s word into the future so all will know what they have learned here, worshiping with you and growing under your tender care.

The Third Tree wanted to stay and grow tall and strong so when people looked to it they would look up and think of God. Our Third Tree is the medium-sized tree. On it we will place ornaments of remembrance for loved ones lost, promises broken and circumstances beyond our control. This tree will remind us of the One who guides us through life’s difficult moments. These ornaments will also hang together to remind us that together, as a community of faith, we shore one another up and help carry one another’s burdens. Together, we will live into a future of hope that each day will become easier to live in spite of the difficulties we face.

Please bring your ornaments to our worship space in the coming days so we can celebrate and anticipate God’s greatest gift…Jesus Christ.

(At the conclusion of the season, please retrieve your ornaments.)

Blessings,
Tracy
