Joining Hearts in Service
Wednesday, August 12th 6-8 p.m. the children and youth (and any interested adults) of First Christian Church have the opportunity to join with those of 7th Street Christian Church to serve a spaghetti meal to the community at 7th Street Christian Church. The street will be blocked off from all traffic and tables will be set outside so dinner will be served al fresco. As part of our efforts to join in this endeavor we are asking the congregation for donations of the following items: spaghetti noodles, hamburger meat, spaghetti sauce, garlic bread, cookies or brownies and individual drinks. Donations may be brought to the church by Tuesday during office hours and left in the church kitchen. All items will be delivered to 7th Street Christian Church on Wednesday.
Our hope is to demonstrate community to our children and youth and instill in them the desire to serve and a life-long practice of serving others in Christ’s name. And, hopefully, our community will come to know us as a caring congregation, dedicated to serving a world in need. If this effort goes well, we will plan events periodically for our children and youth to partner in service so our work will multiply like the loaves and fishes to feed and help the multitudes.
Any and all children or youth, who desire to serve the community in this project, please contact Tracy Parker! And, please join us for a free meal and fellowship with our partners in Christ and those we are called to serve. This is a great opportunity for us to get to know our neighbors and experience the joys of serving them.
