Magnificent work…

I am so prouDisciples of Christd of the Disciples Women and the women of the clothing closet.

In a few minutes, a representative of Church World Service will present the DWF with a certificate acknowledging their outstanding efforts to raise funds for Blankets and Tools of Hope.

He will present the award in the Hanna Class during the Community Bible Study.

In addition to that, when the Yearbook of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) arrived a month ago, we discovered our DWF ranked 2nd among about 3,000 church women’s fellowships in giving to the Disciples Mission Fund.

The Clothing Closet sells good used clothing for pennies on the dollar to anyone who wants to purchase the clothing. The money raised from these sales, is given to the DWF for the DMF. This is, in part, what helps the DWF rank so highly in giving.

You cannot imagine how proud I am of these women who have worked so hard through the decades to make this a church that cares about the world and the words of the gospel of Jesus Christ, which calls us to care and be generous.

I want to especially thank Bonnie Sousley and Linda McFarland who led the DWF for almost a decade as co-presidents. Ladies, you did magnificent work.

And I thank Betty Ritchie, Ruby Smart, Jane Leer, Cathy Caldwell, Linda Herzog and Dorothy Laycock, who work each Thursday when the Clothing Closet is open and at other times sorting and displaying the clothing.

What a church full of so many giving people!

Moving to the deeper places,
Jeff
