A mother, a man, a teenager and the church…

congregation-clipart-church-familiesA young mother walked into the church of her youth with tears in her eye recalling good memories of her youth here in the church.

A man approached me and wanted to make a large contribution to the church, just because he loved the church and because of how much it meant to him.

A woman with grandchildren adopted a homeless man we have seen around town. Yesterday, she presented him with new shoes and a little money. She continues to think of ways she and the church can help him.

A teenager believed he could make a difference and organized an underwear  drive for the Hope Center.  The gifts will be presented on October 21st and several other youth in the community will go with us to learn from this act of compassion and generosity.

This church opened its doors once again to host Recipe for Life, welcoming hundreds of fifth graders into our building to learn how to cook and the math and reading component of preparing food.

A member dealing with their own struggles took time to call and wish another member a happy birthday, and it was deeply appreciated.

I love the church and the gospel of Jesus Christ. When set loose, light floods the darkness and the darkness does not overcome it.

Moving to the deeper places,
Jeff
