“Tell me your story”

prayers
In listening to music did you ever choose a selection, saying, “This is my song,”?

When together in a romantic relationship did the two of you ever say, “This is our song.”

Music speaks to a deep place within us which includes who we are, where we have been and where we are going.

Our faith stories also speak to a deep place within us. They tell us who we are, to whom we belong, identify our origins, tell us where we are going and who loves us and who we should love.

We read scripture and are able to say, “I believe those words with my whole heart, above everything else.”

We become “soulful” and in tune with the rhythms of the universe. We  see the world differently. We become aware of the wondrous mysteries  God has spun from his brilliant glory. We love with a quiet spirit. We make spaces for new friends.

Then there is a day when the conversation turns to life’s meaning. Someone says, “Tell me about you. How do you make it in the world?” or some similar question.

Your faith is now ripe for the harvest. You offer words which reflect your soulful walk. You are brief, but tell your own truth. Your words warm the soul of  another. They are drawn to God.

This is evangelism.  God’s story and your story blend.  Then your story and another person’s story touch in deeper places and they see in you the wonder of God at work.

What would you say if someone asked, “Tell me your story?”

Moving to the deeper places,
Jeff
