Christians working together…
The flood is not over.
The waters have receded, but the impact on lives continues.
Yesterday afternoon, the father of the family that the Ministerial Association helped after the tornado, came by to pick up a check.
They lost everything in the flood, at the place they had moved after the house they were living in was deemed unsafe to occupy.
Today, Chris Brannock, Rector at St. Peter’s Episcopal Church, will meet with me and a woman who is disabled and was completely flooded out on Glenview.
We will issue her a check to help with recovery.
The Bourbon County Ministerial Association has issued checks for more than $6,000 to help flood victims. There are many more yet to be written and cashed.
You might say recovery is just beginning, even though the flash flood was April 3rd.
A gift from the Week of Compassion was given to the B.C.M.A. which will permit us to assist the community with a total of $10,000.
In another matter, Circuit Court entrusted the B.C.M.A. with the management of income from the Mansfield Fund.
This trust at 5th/3rd Bank, was set aside in the 50’s for care of senior adults in Bourbon County. The principal of the fund is over $400,000. Annual income will probably exceed $20,000 a year.
A special oversight group will be convened to determine how the funds will be allocated to fulfill the purpose of the trust.
Good things happen when Christians work together for the fulfillment of God’s kingdom on earth.
Moving to the deeper places,
Jeff
