FCC Financial Workshop

The Church Financial Workshop was well attended.
Presentations were made by Charlotte Owens
our Financial Secretary, Greg Smart, Chair of
Stewardship, Nancye Fightmaster, Co-Chair
of The Renovation Committee and Jeff Bell,
who presented information about our whole
outreach picture.

One member said the next day, "I have been a member
my whole life (over fifty years) and no one has ever
given me such a complete picture of the church's
finances." The comment was made in gratitude.

I did some research about outreach. If you consider
in-kind contributions such as parts of staff salaries,
the value of clothing from the Clothing Closet,
and all the ways smaller groups in the church
give, the church gives away close to $100,000
a year to help folks. Even I was stunned to
to discover this.

In speaking to a sampling of others,
there seemed to be a real appreciation
for the Workshop, which made clear
what was unknown by many members.

For the work of all those who study, plan
and make the church finances work for
us all, you have my undying gratitude.

If you didn't attend the workshop
we hope to begin a tradition of
providing such an event each year
before the budget is presented to
the congregation for a vote.

That would mean the next one
would probably be in October.

We have such a great congregation
full of such good people.
