Gratitude!
All Daughter's Derby Tea & Fashion Show was a tremendous success. Perhaps I should call it the First Annual…as the overwhelming response is that we need to do this again soon. I owe a debt of gratitude to many people for making this event such a wonderful time for all:
Clotine Kissick, for managing the logistics of the party, providing such a beautiful atmosphere and delicious eats for the affair, as well as shopping for the event. Not only that, but she provided enough derby hats for everyone who came and wanted to dive fully into the festivities. She had a smile on her face and was a gracious host to all our guests…and there were many! Thank you Clotine! You're the greatest!
Thank you to all the folks who helped to set up or take down after the event. So many willing hands came together and packed away food, washed and dried dishes, Charlotte Owens took the linens home to launder, Susan Bell, Ginger Wagoner, Judy Otte and Bonnie Collins kept an assembly line going (and Clotine helped with this part too!) in the kitchen cleaning everything! Many others, guests and church members alike scurried around lending aide to the clean-up process. It was wonderful to see so many generous souls working together. Thank you, First Christian Church members and friends, for your servant hearts in helping to clean-up and for your support of the youth and their mission trips!
George Kissick helped with set-up and clean-up, but more importantly, he recorded all the fun we had with his camera and made a lovely slide-show for viewing on Sunday morning. He took pictures of our models, our guests, the beautiful displays, the yummy food and the children trying out the cat-walk. Thank you, George, for the many ways you made the day special!
The Youth: Zachary Frye, Sylvia Frye, Colton Underwood, Kirsten Hagen and Karson Hagen modeled clothing from the clothing room like professionals! They were willing to step outside of their comfort zones to have a little fun. Those attitudes will make for great mission trip experiences! Thank you YOUTH for always being wonderful in everything you do!
Rebecca Parker arrived early dressed in fashionable finery and coached, encouraged and prompted all the youth in their catwalk debuts. She arranged clothing choices and helped with changes. She put together the musical playlist. She mapped out the catwalk and found lighting solutions for the photography. She also engaged the children who came for the tea party so they, too, could strut their stuff and show off their fashionable finery and derby hats. Thank you, Rebecca Parker, for not just being a joy to parent, but for being such great help to me, to the church and to the youth! She had a smile on her face the entire time (well, except when she was modeling…in those instances it's supposed to be about the clothes, not the model.)!
Ann Davidson came early to assist Rebecca in moving the kids along and helping them to all look great. She also helped some of the youth to get 'made-up' for the event. She loved the kids and encouraged them along and then helped with clean-up afterwards. Thank you, Ann, for being such a wonderful help to all of us and for your willingness to just do whatever was needed.
Charlotte Owens brought us this brilliant idea from her Florida church family, she sponsored and decorated a table, invited friends and, as mentioned earlier, helped with clean-up and with laundry. Thank you, Charlotte, for being such a wonderful support of our youth ministry and for your willingness to participate so fully in this event!

Each of these ladies decorated a table, invited friends and family and provided desserts for the event…They came dressed up for a tea party, wore some derby hats and had fun-loving spirits which lent so much to the atmosphere of the event.
Thank you Clothing Room Workers. The clothing room houses donations from members of this church and this community. They serve the people of Paris a friendly smile, dedicate their time and talents to keeping the clothing room stocked and display the clothing options beautifully. They sift through bags and boxes and exchange seasonal items. They do great work for us and for the people they serve. Thank you, friends, for your wonderful ministry for our congregation and our community!
I cannot wait to try this again next year!
