Humility
Speak softly
uplifting others and in uplifting others
so will you be.
Walk gently on the earth
using little
giving much
and all you need
will come to you.
Listen intently
to friends, family and strangers,
for each one has a fascinating
story to tell.
Your own story will be enriched.
Wait patiently, but with purpose,
and good you never expected
will come your way.
(It helps to know your goal.)
Keep silent
when words would injure or divide.
Assume the best of people, build bridges,
promote reconciliation.
Pray as if the answers are the only thing
that will feed your hungry soul, then
listen for a God who speaks in silence.
Bow down or kneel when you pray,
submitting to the great God “I AM.”
Know your place.
Say, “Thank you,” when complimented,
rather than blustering, “Oh, not me.”
Just don’t make a big deal out of yourself,
because in God’s eyes you are a really
big deal and God doesn’t need your help
assigning value to you.
This week we focus on humility.
See you at 7th Street Christian Church at
11 a.m. on Sunday. (No worship at FCC,
but Sunday School as usual at 9:30 a.m.)
Moving to the deeper places.
