Please read Mark 1:21-28
This whole of religion rests on authority.
Whom or what do you allow to have final authority in your life?
What is the highest authority you consult or follow?
Ask that question of anybody
and you will have a pretty good idea who they are.
Many have conferred authority — authority
given by law or conferred by appointment or election.
Conferred authority is not ultimate authority
unless you make it so.
But who seeks political parties or elected officials
as ultimate authority for their life?
I do not see anyone doing that.
Why even the approval rating for elected
officials is incredibly low.
Some folks do seem to give a lot of authority
to their own opinions and ideas.
Some trust knowledge or the pursuit of it.
But knowledge is a fluid thing. There is more
and better knowledge every day.
The world was once thought to be flat. Nuff said.
Some worship nature. But if anything is constantly
changing, it is nature. Nature is breathtaking,
but not much of an authority.
This leads me to Jesus in today's story.
He does not have conferred authority.
He speaks as one WITH authority.
We can believe, trust, follow and accept
his words as true and sure.
We can accept him as true and sure.
The answer to the question "Who or what is your final authority?",
tells everything about you.
For me, it is Jesus.
Moving to the deeper places,
