Jeff's Journal
When you die, all you will have left is what you have given away.
I believe this. On the day you take your last breath,
in spite of wills and estate plans, trust agreements,
how much money is in your account or in investments
you will own nothing, have control over nothing and
never again write a check or spend cash.
This speaks to our stewardship campaign.
You have a great privilege and opportunity.
Your financial gifts can bless the body of Christ
now, while you can participate in deciding
how we spend the gifts we have earned
and been given.
You will receive your pledge card this week.
On the back is a guide if you want to take a
growth step in giving.
There is also a chart for percentage giving.
See if you can grow a percent or two or more
in your giving to the church.
Simply write on the card what you plan to give
to the church. Circle whether that gift is
weekly, monthly or annually.
You need not sign the card. Your name is already
on the card. Bring it with you to church this
Sunday or bring it by the church next week.
We need your financial commitment so we can
prepare the budget for 2012.
Last year, I was able to give $3,000 over what I
had pledged to give. I would encourage you
to evaluate your financial situation and give
accordingly, not just automatically renewing
the amount you gave last year or have given
for many years.
Ask this question, "Am I able to give more
to bless the work of the church?"
If the answer is yes, then do so.
If the answer is no, then do not give more.
Thank you for the great blessings your have shared
with the church over the years with the generosity
of your gifts.
Moving to the deeper places,
Jeff
