Jeff's Journal
The spring day is full of contrasts.
Early today, the sky was dark,
warning of impending rain.
The rains came, the wind blew.
Now the clouds race by,
patches of blue
showing through.
A ray of sunshine piercing the gray,
warming my window sill,
illuminating my computer desk.
Looking out my window, I see
the spire and cross of Anunciation Catholic Church
framed by seventy foot trees in our church yard.
Moving cars signal people about their business,
traveling down High and turning from Secretariat Way
onto U.S. 68.
There is the rhythm and pulse to life in a small town.
Today, a baby is born and in contrast
a family gathers at the funeral home.
This afternoon, they kneel in stables on horse farms
coaxing foals to brand new life.
Folks gather round tables, breaking bread
laughing, speaking from the heart,
and sometimes praying together.
Life ebbs and flows, moving relentlessly
forward, never backward.
May you discover the pure joy
of the ebb and flow,
the rhythm of life
sung to the tune
of a Savior's love.
Moving to the deeper places,
Jeff
