Monday, March 24 ~ The Essential Unity
~~John 14:20
On that day you will know that I am in my Father, and you in me, and I in you.
~~Have you ever made a promise? According to Webster’s dictionary a promise is a declaration of something that will or will not be done. Promises are made all the time.
“I promise I’ll clean my room.”
“I promise I’ll fix that leaky sink.”
“I promise I won’t spend too much money.”
Some of these are kept, but many are not.
In John 14: 15-21, Jesus makes us a promise. This is the most important one. He promises the Holy Spirit. We will not be able to see the Holy Spirit, but He will live with us and will be in us. Jesus tells us that soon we will not be able to see Him, but he will not leave us as orphans. We will realize that Jesus lives with his Father. When we make our commitment of faith, are baptized, and obey his commands, Jesus, God, Our Father, becomes one with us. We are in Him, and He with us.
This is a unity that will never be broken. Seen or unseen the promise of faithfulness will be honored by His love. This time of Lent reminds us of our responsibilities and promises to Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. Are you still one with Him and He with you?
