Nothing Special ?
Our zinnias are blooming.
Nothing special, really,
but wait.
“Nothing special,” I say.
Oh my goodness.
They are glorious.
A reflection of the creative
hand of the living God.
Seeds were encoded
from the beginning
to fall into the good earth
and die to their old form
to produce colorful blooms
on three foot stems.
How do flowers know to bloom?
What cues them to the season,
to grow and regale us with beauty?
I think you can answer that theologically.
Moving to the deeper places,
