Operation Back Pack
School is back in session and that means it is time, once again, to collect items for Operation Back Pack.
Operation Back Pack is a community effort to help eradicate hunger in our community. Children receiving aid from the Free and Reduced Lunch program often face weekends of hunger because there is no food or insufficient food in the home. Working through the County Extension Office and Family Resource Centers we can donate food items which are distributed to children discretely each Friday afternoon in their backpacks.
Donated items can be left in the Fellowship Hall where we collected for "Stuff the Bus." The following are suggestions for nutritious, easy open, non-perishable foods needed for the program…
- 18 oz. jars creamy peanut butter
- Individual cups of fruit
- Individual cups of applesauce
- Individual low fat or fat free pudding cups (non-refrigerated)
- Any food items that can easily be opened and eaten by a child
- 100% Juice Boxes or Pouches
- Raisins
- Individual bags pretzels/animal crackers
