Psalm 22:8
Commit your cause to the Lord; let him deliver – let him rescue the one in whom he delights. Psalm 22:8
A long time ago, I “committed my cause to the Lord.”
There I was, on a Sunday night, in Corbin, Kentucky, walking down the aisle to say Jesus was “the way, the truth and the life,” for me.
There is no doubt that I did not completely know what that meant as a 12-year old, but I felt the magnetism of his love. To me, this was “the way.”
Now, here I am many years later. I wish I could say to you as your pastor, that I fully understand what Jesus meant when he said, “I am the way, the truth and the life.”
I wish I could say to you exactly how to walk the way, how to know the truth and what is “the life.”
Still, we should try to know.
Every day we should live by committing our cause to the Lord. I suspect this may look like this:
- Live in his love. Know how much you are loved and what you owe the Lord because of this love.
- In each situation, remember God loves every person.
- Determine what you believe to be the whole of God’s will for us all the time. For example, there is sin, but there is also mercy. There is accountability and there is grace. Remember, these things work together to bring about good.
- When seeking the truth, define the essence of the issue. Ask many questions.
Think.
Pray.
Ask. Seek, Knock.
Listen to those with whom you may disagree at first.
You might benefit from writing your thought processes on paper or in a journal.
- Spend all your days seeking this “life,” which is a word which Jesus uses for himself. “…let him deliver – let him rescue the one in whom he delights.”
Always do your part to discern the rescue and the deliverance.
Remember, love everyone in the process.
Moving to the deeper places,
Jeff
