Renewal

Henri Nouwen said this about "renewal":

Truly "born again" people always desire to be renewed continually, precisely because the Spirit keeps on revealing, in and around them, places of darkness that have not yet been transformed by the light. For as long as we live, we need to be reborn and deepen our spiritual understanding, as we walk into the light.

This speaks to the need for renewal better than about anything I have read lately. Being "born again" is a beautiful spiritual metaphor which illustrates the complete process of becoming a new person in Christ.

"Born again" does not belong to a segment of Christianity which uses it frequently, but rather belongs to every Christian who seeks renewal in Christ.

What we are attempting to do in our renewal process is raise this consciousness that this is a continual process individually and as a church.

A Season of Prayer will begin in September to encourage all of us to intensify our desire to be in touch with God.

The first meeting of the Renewal Team was August 9th and generated productive input from the group and work to be done before the next meeting on August 30th.
