Serving Hearts
We read a lot lately
about saying “No.”
Get your priorities in order,
say “no” to extra commitments.
Reduce stress, say “no” when
asked to accept a special project.
Make more time for yourself,
say “no” when asked to do something.
I respect a well thought out “no.”
Saying “no” to some things
frees you up to say “Yes” to others.
Having said all that,
the church operates effectively,
only when people say “yes.”
The Nominating Committee is calling
folks and hoping to hear “Yes,
I will be glad to serve.”
We are hearing that already
from some of you and
we deeply appreciate
your willingness to do the
discussing, planning and
implementing that must
happen before anything
else can happen in the church.
Serving on boards and committees
may not sound exciting
but think of it this way.
You get the first peek
at ideas which might very well
bloom and bear fruit for the
kingdom of God on earth.
To my way of thinking that is
an exciting adventure in the faith.
Committees and boards are the venues
where we examine the seeds of
Christian service and decide to plant
them or choose to plant others.
How are you saying “yes” to God and
to his church?
Moving to the deeper place,
Jeff
