Souper Bowl of Caring
Sunday, February 3rd, Middle and High School Youth will participate in our annual SOUPER BOWL OF CARING campaign. Souper Bowl of Caring is a national organization that advocates for education and involvement at the local level to 'Tackle Hunger' in communities across the nation and across the globe.
This week, following worship, youth will be stationed outside each sanctuary exit to collect money or non-perishable food items for Operation Food Basket.
Our youth work throughout the year to 'Tackle Hunger' in Bourbon County through collection efforts for Operation Food Basket and Operation Backpack as well as volunteering their time to packing food packs at the extension office. This packing project not only helps the Extension Office with the work of getting food packs to children in need but also serves to open the eyes of our youth to hunger issues right here in our community and in the very schools they attend. This year they will also volunteer their time and efforts to provide a meal or two to the homeless community through the Lexington Catholic Action Center. This is a project we've never attempted before, but we trust will be as rewarding for the youth and participating adult volunteers as it is for those who receive our gifts of love.
