The Sunflower
There we stood craning our necks
to see the top of a splendid sunflower,
stretching some 16 feet in the air.
On it were 50 blooms and 40 buds,
give or take a few.
It was the tallest sunflower
either one of us had ever seen.
I took a picture, which may appear in
the local paper with Bob Thompson
standing next to this marvelous plant
for perspective.
The sunflower came up on its own
at the place where Bob and Edna
had always had their productive gardens
through the years.
It is a sight to see.
Bobbye Gaunce harvested several blooms
for a church arrangement on Sunday.
I hope I never cease to be amazed at God's
glory bursting forth from the good earth and
shooting toward the sun.
Moving to the deeper places,
