There are good things happening all around us.
Here are some of my observations:
+ Today has begun bright and clear, cool and crisp. Fantastic!
+ During Holy Humor Sunday, I had a pizza delivered to our sound technicians in the balcony during worship. The delivery person left with a $90 tip. You should have seen him walking out, barely able to contain a big smile.
+ We have witnessed tender and loving tributes on facebook from Ellen Cook about her mother Ann Hylander.
+ Charlotte Owens tells me that she has not had to transfer money from the Living Memorial Fund to support the budget so far this year. Usually, by now, about $10,000 has been used to supplement the budget. Thank you for your faithful and generous giving.
+ Our youth will be working the tables at The Rock to raise money for their mission trip to Jamaica this summer. Please support them by eating there April 11, between 5-9 p.m.
+ I commend to you an article by Tom Eblen in the Herald-Leader on 4-4 offering an explanation about our wild and crazy primary campaigns for president.
+ I liked the Little Rock Christian Church's sign: "If you are tired of the donkey and the elephant, try the Lamb."
+ Our Maundy Thursday Worship team successfully led worship even when I called to say I was sick.
+ A big thanks to Sannie Overly and her husband Mike Kalinyak who again, loaned us their donkey Jen-Jack for a Palm Sunday procession. We all laughed at the thought of being loaned a donkey by the chair of the Democratic party in Kentucky.
+ Thanks to Steve Davis for transporting Jen-Jack, building a pen for him and leading him into and out of the sanctuary.
+ Over 50 people participated in our MaundyThursday and Good Friday worship events.
+ We were once again greeted by a spectacular sunrise as we stood by the grave of Barton W. Stone at the Cane Ridge Shrine early on Easter morning.
+ Thanks to Ed Marcum, Bob Parker, R.W. Collins and Laura Smart for cooking and serving breakfast after the sunrise service. And to Gerry McMillen for cooking the sausage and bacon.
+ We were all touched by Cathy Caldwell rededicating her life to Christ on Palm Sunday.
+ You should know that we offer outstanding Sunday School classes which begin at 9:30 a.m.
+ Angelino had the church yard cleaned of fallen limbs from the Saturday wind, BEFORE we arrived at church on Sunday morning.
+ As I see the phlox and the tulips blooming, along Cypress Street, I sure do miss Frances.
Just thought you might want to know,
