VBS is Almost Here!

There’s a flurry of activities in the church and among our people. Craft leaders are busily gathering supplies, pre-making examples to share and prepping projects to accommodate each age group. Outreach leaders are gathering their supplies, organizing themselves for a busy week and pre-cutting fleece. Our kitchen crews are meeting to plan meals that will be healthy and inviting for our weary volunteers. Green Team members are recruiting helpers to come in and wash dishes each night so we can continue our commitment to stewardship of God’s beautiful earth. Volunteers are riding through town listening to the VBS music so they know the songs when it’s time to get up in front of the kids. Game leaders are prepping game supplies and making contingency plans for rainy days. Jim and Mary Lovell, utilizing a great deal of imagination, have put together great stories with a modern twist to help the kids imagine what it might be like if the events of Christ’s birth were to happen here today.

Our members have all been going through their Christmas decorations to see what they can add to our holiday theme. AND dozens of folks have taken home sheets of plain, white paper to cut out roughly 2,000 snowflakes!

This is a great deal of effort and commitment from our folks for this special week of sharing God’s love for humanity with all our visitors. Andrea Underwood has put  a great deal of her energies…if not all her energy, into making this year’s offering fantastic. We have over 50 individuals giving their time each night for VBS. Countless more have spent money to help us have all the supplies we need for our week of fun. While engaging our community in a week of fun and learning is a wonderful outcome for all these efforts, it isn’t the only good blessing we can count. The combined efforts of all these individuals coming together, working towards this one event in the life of the church, is a wonderful fellowship opportunity. It’s also an incredible undertaking to see all our church members coming together, working collectively towards this one, common goal.

VBS is intergenerational! When all these individuals come together, working together with all the children we encounter, we have bridged the divide between the ages! Adults taking an active interest in the lives of young people is the single, most important, thing that can contribute to the success of our children and to the good of society! YOU are taking part in all these wonderful things when you help make Vacation Bible School a success. Please continue to add your prayers to all these wonderful efforts!

Blessings,
Tracy
