What a Wild and Wonderful Week!
Our Vacation Bible School week started off with a bang! We welcomed 47 children our first night. Throughout the week they’ve kept coming back and have had a wonderful time. Operation Food Basket will have over 300 items donated to stock their shelves. As of today our food count is 296, but we still have one more day together. The Senior Citizen’s Center and the Dog Park will both have new picnic tables soon, as that is another outreach project taken on by our children and adults. So many have come together to make this week great, but the most exciting part of it all is how much everyone is enjoying their time together. I’m certain everyone goes home each night exhausted, but I’ll bet that when they lie down at night they’re pleased by all the good that has been done…all out of our love for Christ.
One of this year’s helpers in games has been a youth who came to our Vacation Bible Schools as a child. He lives close to the church and still wanted to be a part of what we were doing. That, my friends, says a lot!! One week in the life of the church may not seem like much, but it could be everything to a child. Some kids are shopped around to every VBS a town can offer. Who knows what the motivations of the parents might be, but for good or bad, it is our chance to share our love for Christ with these kids. Maybe this one week, done year after year, will set up enough of a foundation for God to do incredible things for the church of the future. I have no doubt God will be there. I am so happy that we have stepped up in such an enormous way to be a part of God’s great work!
And, in the midst of all this VBS wonderfulness…I am, once again, a grandmother! Joan Elise Stevens was born July 11th at 10:18 p.m. (After an exciting night of VBS fun!) She is healthy and beautiful and wonderful! Mommy is tired and a bit sleep deprived, but healthy and well also. Thank you, all, for your prayers and all the love you have shown my family as we awaited Joan’s incredible arrival. You’re all amazing people with whom I love doing ministry!
Blessings,
Tracy
