Commitment
One was a nurse.
The other a teacher.
They lived together most of their lives.
We could count on them to be at church if anything was happening here.
Together, they served on the church outreach committee for over 30 years.
They represented the church on the Operation Food Basket Board for many years.
Sarah Frances was out in the community every day, living out the call to be a servant leader in the kingdom of God.
Maxey, served quietly, but just as surely, the needs of family, friends and neighbors.
They were always in church. Always.
They took in two nephews and raised them, when it would have been easier not to do so.
They were always at their ball games. Two women with little to no interest in football, yet sitting there in firm support.
They worked in the clothing closet every Thursday.
They gave as they were able their entire lives.
Now, upon Maxie’s death, we discover she remembered the church at the time of her death. She left a provision in her will for the church to receive a portion of her estate.
On Sunday, we remembered and gave thanks for two women, who were the very definition of faithfulness and commitment to the church.
We are grateful for the gift of almost $71,000.00 to be used how we see fit for the continuing work of the church of Jesus Christ in the world.
To God be the glory. Amen.
Moving to the deeper places,
Jeff
