Follow me…

Please read John 1:foot prints43-51

A week ago Sunday, I proclaimed, “According to national news Paris must have among the lowest gas prices in the nation.”

The very next day, our gas prices went up about 35 cents per gallon. The next day.

We live in a world where a cartoon results in co-ordinated mass murder. A cartoon. Albeit an insulting, profane, and angry cartoon, but nevertheless, a cartoon.

The stock market is blowing the roof off the most optimistic projections. But what about tomorrow?

Think about the way Jesus turned Philip’s life upside down, when he simply said, “Follow me.” One day Philip is sitting in the synagogue, living the life.  The next day, this rabbi is saying, “I AM the way, the truth and the life.”

Philip was asked to walk down an unfamiliar path.

Do you know many people who would give it up to walk this path with Jesus?

In an unpredictable world, are we ready to grapple with the meaning of the words “follow me?”

This is the work we do at First Christian Church.

Moving to the deeper places,
Jeff
