Global Ministries Missions

global-ministries-logoThe Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) and the United Church of Christ have been working in mission partnership since 1965. Today missionaries span the globe manifesting God’s love in relationships living a vision of presence, mutuality, community, justice and peace. Throughout the coming year, we plan to share with you who some of our missionaries are and what their ministries entail. We urge you to include these ministries, these persons, and their families, in your prayers. It is our calling, together with those who are willing to serve in far-away places, to share the love of God and the good news of Jesus Christ throughout the world.

In India, Christian Hospital Mungeli has been serving its community for the past 120 years through the Church of North India, a Global Ministries’ partner. The hospital has become known in the region for its skilled staff, technology, and compassionate medical care for the marginalized at an affordable cost.

The hospital has grown into a facility to train young men and women to become rural health care workers, expanding the hospital’s work in the area it serves, and reaching out to thousands of people in places that have limited access to health care. The region where the hospital is located has had staggering infant and maternal mortality rates. Mothers suffer due to lack of care, complications during pregnancy and home delivery, and delays in seeking care. Christian Hospital Mungeli’s presence has made an impact, as there were no maternal deaths there last year and the infant mortality rates have declined at the hospital.

Missionaries in different parts of the world help in ministries like Christian Hospital Mungeli. They serve humanity out of their love for Christ. They represent our congregation and each of us individually.  These you can pray for in the days ahead include: Phyllis Byrd, who serves in Kenya; Karen Campbell Nelson, who serves in Indonesia; Sarah Williams, who serves in India; Will O’Brien, who serves in Egypt; Erik and Kim Free, who serves in Mozambique. If you’ve ever wondered what in the world you can do, praying for and supporting Global Ministries and the missionaries who serve is the answer…a simple and easy way you can engage in God’s work and ministry in the world.
Blessings,
Tracy
