The Walk for the Well raised over $4,000 on Sunday.
There will be more contributions to come from
churches and individuals.
About 40 people walked up to The Well
met the staff and walked on into
the neighborhood up past Shorter Chapel
Church on Chapel Street, then to 2nd.
Along the way these things happened:
1. One person turning off of Lilleston
by the creek said, "I never knew this
was here." (Goal one accomplished)
2. Four little boys playing softball in their
front yard, stopped to pet Buck
Woodford's retrievers. Their mother
yelled and waved. She was the lady
who takes our order at Arby's.
3. A few folks from Shorter Chapel
stayed and greeted us as we walked
by. You could over hear them say
excitedly, "Here they come!'
4. A little boy lost his soccer ball in a
drainage basin. We retrieved it for
him while he repeatedly said,
"Thank you sir, thank you sir."
5. People talked to each other
and gained a greater appreciation
for the work of the Bourbon County
Ministerial Association.
6. There were three churches who
provided water/hospitality stations
for the walkers.
Some observed that I routed them uphill
all the way, and they were partially right.
I will have to rethink the route next time.
Thanks to Kay Denniston who led the effort
at FCC to raise funds and enlist walkers.
Thanks to all who contributed.
Grace and peace,
Jeff
