Please read Matthew 2:1-12

Christmas joy

They were magi, astrologers, wise men and scholars.

The different names come from four different translations of the Bible.

They were a little of each and very much scholars.  They studied the heavens. They asked questions and sought guidance.

They listened.  Wisdom was how they were known. They were called “wise.”

They knew about the child and his role as king of the Jews.

They discerned, discovered, saw– his star.

These were not just three guys on a road trip.

They knew someone had come to lead the Jews.  They knew of the holy quality to his life.  Their scholarship led them to a certain place.  Then, their faith led them the rest of the way.

The scholarship was about time and place, AAA directions and the historical and prophetic word in the life of Israel.

Their faith would lead them to “be overwhelmed with joy.”

Then came stewardship.

They opened their treasure chests and in worshipful adoration, presented gifts to support the work of the kingdom on earth.

I wish I had been there to witness this powerful mixture of joyful worship and generous stewardship.

Moving to the deeper places,
