This past Sunday we celebrated thewonderful  gift of the “land that we love” in worship.

 

We sang “My country tis of thee, sweet land of liberty, of thee I sing…"                                          

Perhaps we forget that little phrase “tis of thee.”

What it means is:

Of God

For God

With God.

 

All through our national songs are references to the God of all time and eternity, who created “sea to shining sea.”

In a nation which seems increasingly secular the church still honors the nation by singing its songs, when there are times some in power give short shrift to the church.

 

Isn’t the church awesome, incredible and wonderful?

 

We aren’t afraid to say that we love our country, while at the same time singing the words “god mend thine every flaw.”

 

May God bless and challenge us to be better.
