Jeff's Journal
A snap shot of a week in ministry.
Call to check on test results
and heard the heartbreaking story
of the horrible injuries sustained
by a relative of a relative serving
in Afghanistan.
Ate peanut butter and jelly sandwiches
at Vacation Bible School with a table
full of willing volunteers.
Washed and test drove the van preparing
for a church trip.
Received a hug from a seven year old, lifted
and swung three sisters in the air, listened
to exciting reports and plans at the Board
meeting, sweated with the Nominating
Committee trying to find leaders to serve,
listened to someone speak about family matters
and more.
I turned down someone requesting help, who
believed the town should provide for their
every need, I spoke to a man moving to Paris
who plans to come to worship soon, praised
Angelino on his fine job caring for the grounds,
invited someone whose child is attending Bible
School to church Sunday and they said they would
come. (They know about the Disciples.)
Then I led The Well Advisory Committee, greeted every
single person at VBS, watched George K. and Jeff M.
work feverishly on computer solutions for the church.
I sat and reminisced about a loved one who is missed,
listened to someone who believed their loved one
who died, is still alive (and I didn't correct them).
I threw a football for the first time in years to Andrew
who is leading recreation for VBS, called Richard Eads
to ask him if someone is married when the license is
not signed (they are not) and called to check on
some folks who have not been really well.
My goodness there is more.
I love the job to which I have been called and love
serving First Christian in Paris, Kentucky —
and always have.
Moving to the deeper places,
Jeff
