Jeff's Journal

Susan and I received an email.

It was from Chad’s wonderful nurse at UK.

She said, “Chad’s viral load is undetectable.

This bodes well for his full recovery.”

Today we see the doctor, but the news we

received by email caused us to rejoice.

Chad is still tired, has little reflux and needs

to be kept from exposure to other infections.

We must make sure he drinks 100 ounces of fluid every day.

That gets to be tedious and tiresome, especially for Susan,

who is using her sabbatical time to shepherd the

                process of healing Chad.

Chad has a great attitude.

He never complains about needles or taking pills.

He does his best to comply with all our requests.

He has taken it well, that he can’t have more than

a sip or two of a soft drink every day.

He is funny and loving and soaks up the

      intensive care he is receiving.

I love my boy!

Osama bin Laden is dead.

Some of you can remember when you heard

        Hitler or Mussolini was dead.

Some can recall the death of Stalin or Mao Tse Tung or Pol Pot.

History is littered with genocidal maniacs.

who gain a following, because they are

charismatic and convince people their cause is just.

But do you remember what we heard together

after being stunned and angered after the

     attacks on September 11, 2001?

We are called to pray for our enemies.  It may be the hardest

thing we are asked to do by Jesus.

But let us also pray for the Navy Seals who risked their lives,

for President Obama who made this decision and

all the National Security Advisors, CIA and Armed Forces

who are called every day to deal with enemies,

to track their every move and keep us safe.

Moving to the deeper places,

Jeff
