Just an ordinary day…
It seemed like such an ordinary day. The cool air refreshed me when I stepped outside. The brilliant sun floodlit every good and perfect thing God has made.
There is a pervasive stillness. The trees stand, silent witnesses to the movement of humanity here and there.
There is a devoted member of Annunciation Catholic mowing the lawn.
Rev. Jerri Williams and I stopped by to greet Rev. Steven Schere, the new pastor at Central Baptist. Then we contacted Father Danny Fister, the new Catholic priest. They are both excited to be here and both want to be involved with the Bourbon County Ministerial Association.
Nine people gathered for the Disciples 101 Class and there was much lively discussion.
As I greeted the residents at Bourbon Heights, one lady who was blind, took my hand and tenderly placed it on her cheek and smiled softly.
Another broke into one of her radiant smiles and did not want to let go of my hand.
Another was kind enough to say, there are so many here today, because they knew you were coming.
Mary Etta gave me a light delicious dessert from the Circle meeting last night.
I got to drive Tracy’s red Mini Cooper. Wow!
My partner in ministry and I prayed together for one struggling to keep it together.
Yeah, I guess, just an ordinary day in the Kingdom of God.
Moving to the deeper places,
Jeff
