Please read Isaiah 11:1-9 and Mark 1:1-8
We prepare to welcome John the Baptist on Sunday. He will come and I will interview him. You will learn some interesting things about John. Things you certainly did not know.
You have an insert in this newsletter which gives you the lyrics to two songs the worship team wants you to hear. The first is “The Days of Elijah.” This song outlines days of difficulty Infused with hope. The other song is “Holy Spirit” by Kim Walker-Smith. Myra Miller will lead us in singing this song. But I would ask you to access YouTube to listen to both of these songs. If you cannot do this, don’t worry. We will play them for you on Sunday, the 10th.
We were privileged to host the Rotary Club Christmas concert. Over 400 people filled our sanctuary to hear musical groups and individuals present Christmas selections.
You will see beautifully produced posters around the church. Working with me, Jeff Bryant produced these on short notice and they now remind us of the Advent events. Between Jeff’s generosity and another contributor the posters were paid for without any impact on the budget.
We welcome Chad and Kenneth Smart who were baptized Sunday and join the family of First Christian Church and the kingdom of God on earth. Welcome!
Thomas Politz came forward Sunday to accept Christ as his Lord and Savior. We welcome Thomas into our family of faith. We are preparing for his baptism.
You are invited to support Dollar Days for The Well each of the remaining Sundays in December. Simply bring a dollar and place it in the offering baskets held by a church member at each door.
Thanks to all those who came to help decorate the sanctuary and fellowship hall last Saturday. A special thanks to those who helped problem solve and were here until the early afternoon.
Thanks to everyone who prepared and brought food, cards, cake and gifts to show Tracy our appreciation for seven years of ministry with us. Thanks to those who stayed to clean up.
Moving to the deeper places,
Jeff
