Thank you…

helping hands

Thank you for your prayers during Susan’s surgery.

Thank you for delicious meals delivered twice a week and to Cathy Caldwell who arranged this.

Thanks to Tracy who has taken on extra work in my absence.

Thank you for sending cards, checking on her with Dianne and sending gift cards for meals later when she can get out.

Thanks for offering to help if needed.

Thanks to Tracy and Marie Smart for waiting with Chad, Sarah and me during the surgery.

Susan is doing remarkably well. She went from a walker to a can about four days after coming home. Now she has set the cane aside in the house and she is walking without assistance.

She will continue to use the cane when she goes out.

Today is the first day she is allowed to take short trips out. We will go out to lunch and then vote.

One beautiful side benefit to all this is that Susan and I have been able to spend two wonderful weeks together during her early recovery.  We are tied in Scrabble games. Think about this. I beat a Ph.D. twice in a vocabulary game. Susan will say it has to do more with who gets the “z”, “q”, “x” and “j”, than anything else. I’ll go with, “I beat a Ph.D. twice.”

During the school year, we are both so very busy, we don’t have such an opportunity to be together. I am going to miss this mostly uninterrupted time together with her.

Certainly, I would be remiss if I didn’t thank Dr. Jeffrey Parr for his kindness, professionalism and his meticulous attention to detail. So many of you in the congregation know exactly what I am talking about.

He is a faithful Christian person and prays with each of his patients. This is such a beautiful witness to his patients and staff.

The entire staff at Good Sam – UK were attentive and professional.

Such times bring us together in a holy interdependence of love and mutual support. To God be the glory.

Moving to the deeper places,
Jeff
