Thankful
Susan saw the swirling clouds from the deck at our house.
I was at the church and hail pummeled our building and my car. Sheets of rain blew fiercely across the parking lot.
Inside the building, the air vents sounded like ten people vigorously shaking coffee cans full of marbles.
The power went out.
We all discovered later that a tornado touched down somewhere behind Southern States (I have a witness) and destroyed a home and damaged others on Vine Street, about three blocks from the church.
Marilyn Campbell sustained damage to her home, but fortunately was not home when the storm hit.
David and Liz Yeiser lost some big trees and had minor damage to their home.
I was not able to contact anyone who could tell me about Nanine Brooks, who lives in that neighborhood.
There are two or more large trees down at the Wallis House. There are large trees down at Scott and Vine.
Emily Thompson’s home seemed o.k. when I drove by as did Marianne Gebhardt’s as well.
Kathi & John Vance in Wyndamere had some damage.
I understand Melissa Barlow Bowman and her family sustained minor damage.
The church lost some very large limbs from a few trees. Doug Wagoner was Johnny on the spot and helped us cut them up by 7 p.m.
Angelino had the yard cleared by 9 a.m.
Through it all, I stood watching out the window of the church. I felt as though I was in the safest place in Paris.
Our building is magnificent and strong and I am always reminded of the hymn “A Mighty Fortress is Our God” when I think of this grand old building.
We have called Emergency Services and offered help from FCC and the Bourbon County Ministerial Association.
No one was killed. We offer thanks for that.
Moving to the deeper places,
Jeff
