The Cross
The cross is the symbol of the Christian Church. Perhaps it is the most recognized symbol in the world.
The cross is a symbol for love in the face of death, silence before accusers, forgiveness of sins, believing that faith is more powerful than armed resistance.
The cross reminds us of our own sacrifice in the face of temptation. The need to give until we feel the liberating effects of generosity. That there will be pain along the journey and that we can grow through this pain.
The cross reminds us of the dangers of capital punishment. It tells us quickly of transitions from death to the eternal presence. It tells us that Jesus has risen from the dead and lives in us and through us in these days of our lives.
We journey to the cross during the Lenten season, but each week we gather at the Lord’s table, set by the events of Good Friday.
Praise God from whom all blessings flow.
Moving to the deeper places,
