Balance

BalanceGlub! Gurgle! Squish, Splash!

Rumble! Blam!

Flash! Lights out!

The prevalence of rain and thunderstorm this summer is something quite unusual.

Everyday, there are watches, warnings, alerts, flash flooding.

Farmers cannot harvest their hay.

Some vegetables are rotting before they are harvested.

We are experiencing the third wettest summer on record.

We have no control over the weather or we would change it.

Moderation would be the plan.

Too much of a good thing becomes a bad thing.

So it is with our lives.

Food is good.

Too much food is unhealthy.

Rest is good.

Too much rest becomes laziness.

We seek balance.

Jesus appreciated hard work.  "Go. Baptize all the nations."

Jesus valued rest. He was asleep in the boat, retreated to the mountain and said, "Come to me all of you who labor and carry burdens and I will give you rest."

Balance.

The one who does not take time to meditate, contemplate and pray, often misses the essence of balance in their lives.

In that process, confessions humbles us and makes us receptive to the next great thing God has for us to do.

Moving to the deeper places,
