Refuge

refuge

The Psalmist talks about it in 71.

Refuge: A place of shelter or protection from danger or distress.

The Psalmist is pretty clear.

This refuge is to help protect us from becoming ashamed of ourselves.

The Lord is the refuge into which the Psalmist retreats.

Merriam-Webster goes on to use synonyms for refuge: harbor, haven, retreat, sanctuary.

When the emotional and spiritual storms of life come, where do you find refuge?

Where is your spiritual home? I hope it is in the Lord.

For there, you will find rest, peace, a perspective which is holy.

Refuge is not a vacation, entertainment or distraction.

Refuge is resting in the love and wisdom of God, which allows time to consider which path to walk.

I trust we need at least a little refuge every day, to regain our spiritual sanity.

Rest, reflect, restore, renew.

Re-write your life.

Erase, re-phrase, Place a period where it belongs. Insert a question mark.  Explore wonder. Expect God.

Step back and reconsider your first impulses. Life gets better.

Moving to the deeper places,

Jeff
